One in five children infected in the recent London measles outbreak were reportedly hospitalised.
Don’t believe the anti-vaxxers when they say “it’s a mild disease” or “it’s better to get immunity naturally”.
It isn’t.

@kityates they were called Children's diseases because those are the diseases that used to kill children. Then we invented vaccines.

@kityates People need to understand that contracting a disease whose outcome is most often less than death doesn't mean it is a mild disease. Measles is awful. Measles can cause you to go blind. People get pneumonia and die. Your brain can swell up and you can die of it months and years later. Your immune system is seriously hampered for years afterewards and you catch other stuff and die from that instead. Measles is a shit disease. You don't want it. You don't want your kids to get it.

@kityates Not getting vaccinated is literally taking advice from RFK.

@kityates This outbreak appears to be a symptom of a decline in standards - of what I do not know. Maybe in vaccine uptake? In health at home?

For people who think doctors and nurses are the trying to give their children autism sure run to the hospital when they are out of their league. They should be charged with child endangerment.

@kityates My mother had measles when pregnant with me - my frailness as a child may be partly to do with that. I’ve made the most of my health since then (have always struggled a bit) and vaccination is a must for me and my loved ones.

@kityates it’s nasty and apart from killing some people it leaves others with permanent damage.

@kityates

There's nothing unnatural about immunity from vaccination.

@kityates People who believe the Earth is flat or that vaccines are not needed, are the product of “Facebook for gullibles”.

@kityates I guarantee you that the children of rich and well educated public anti-vaxxers are vaccinated.

@kityates This "mild" disease caused my mother's deafness and a mild learning disability.

@kityates, louder! For the people in the back!

It is horrible that parents are more than willing to put the life, health and safety of children (not only their own children) on the line.

In Germany a reduction of vaccination rates (especially the second dose) is noted.

Can’t believe our “civilisation” moves back to the dark times with increasing numbers of polio, pertussis, measles aso. because people don’t trust science.

Nope, not a mild disease, specially in countries where vaccination rates diminished, as it was in Mexico. Now in spanish speaking news you read that since the beginning of the measles outbreak (I believe it was since 2025), there are at least 29 deaths from measles.
