This is separate from the people getting arrested last night protesting a hotel where ICE was staying, and the people protesting the federal building where they stage.
Really hard to tell how large because it was spread out along the length of the street.
Most accurate crowd estimate I’ve heard so far is “goodness that was a lot of people,.”

@inthehands That was cold blooded Murder, plain and simple, if that wasn't evident enough in all the videos and sreenshots online, it should be. They have been told that Trump will have their back, he's shown he could. Would he now? I'm sure they are dumb enough to believe he cares about them.
This is the problem: I’m sure they’ll see the regime having their back when they commit murder and assume that’s to protect them — when really it’s to put them in the crosshairs.

You wouldn't introduce a rule of "note: if you have stolen this code unauthorized from your workplace you must disclose it", and if such a rule were introduced you wouldn't justify it based on "well if we don't require labeling people would just do it anyway". So what they're really saying is some kinds of code theft are acceptable and some aren't

@mcc Thank you for putting it like that. I have long had problems with "if we forbid it they're just gonna hide it" argument, but I couldn't quite place my finger on why. I know now - because if people's idea of "open" "community" is to fucking lie and feign ignorance for some personal convenience, they aren't welcome. Never were for other reasons, won't be for sloperating reasons, either.

Two #goodhabits for the #newyear that are surprisingly easy to do and are already #makingadifference:
- muting (large) accounts in the #trending section that are doing various forms of clickbait, because even in the #fediverse #ragebaiting #cutevideos #AIslop (AI slop with a leftist slant still is AI slop) are rife.
- ignoring #comments from people who keep missing the point willfully or from sheer ignorance. My time is sacred.
LLM advocates and their enablers will hide the fact that they are posting stolen code— they brag about this, their most widely-effective argument for LLM code being allowed in OSS is "if you tell us we can't, we'll do it and not tell you"— and attempts to track which open source projects use stolen code will be harassed off the Internet. I do not want to be part of this open source community, so the only options I seem to have are to wall myself off from it, or stop doing open source altogether.

Finally (2), I have some good enough DHCP server! 
Tried kea from ISC — it works but requires some additional actions to be launched under #NetBSD. It has very strange default paths for file with leases, PIDs and logs:
- /usr/pkg/var/lib/kea/
- /usr/pkg/var/lib/run/kea
- /usr/pkg/var/log/kea
BTW, it could be changed via playing with some environment variables.
Also, the default startup script uses keactrl to launch DHCP server and keactrl requires some configuration for it. So, to use "service kea start" there are two configuration files are necessary:
- /usr/pkg/etc/keactrl.conf — the main configuration file for server.
- /usr/pkg/etc/kea/keactrl.conf — the configuration file for keactrl.
Then, I tried the dhcpsd — the new promising successor of ISC dhcpd, which could be configured with configuration file in Lua and conforms Unix FHS — all necessary files lies in the right places: /var/run, /var/log, etc. Sadly, it doesn't work: server starts but there are no leases for clients and no any errors in the log 😒
Then, I found cmu-dhcpd in the repos — there is a dhcpd from Carnegie Mellon University with some patches from Princeton. And, finally it works! And it also conforms Unix FHS: main configuration in the /etc/dhcpd.conf, PID-file in the /var/run/dhcpd.pid and logs in the /var/log/messages

Renee Good is a crisis for the Trump regime: not because they care about her life, but because ICE murdering her makes ICE look bad. They’ve been telling all these stories about all the imaginary violence ICE officers face. In their minds, it’s the people on the streets who were supposed to lose their cool first. Now they’re falling over themselves to make that happen.
We just want ICE gone, but their bosses want them dead. And no, I’m sure they do not understand this.
