@BBC release the Epshein Files!
I've been reading this "Iain M. Banks" guy for a while and I have come to the conclusion he's really very good at coming up with ideas and then writing down descriptions of them
@mcc fun books! Shame about the fans in the tech exec class.
AI can't fix climate change because the problem is politicians in the pocket of fossil-fuel interests, not a lack of information or understanding.
@petergleick Then let's ask it to fix that problem instead :)

Feel this is less common than earthquakes so merits undue excitement
@schwa see any cool lightning?
When I was in my early twenties I read The Visual Display of Quantitative Information from Tufte and agonized over making charts great for users.
These days, Microsoft releases graphs like this
@thomasfuchs
A long time ago Microsoft Design published a website about their design language, Fluent. On the landing page was a 3d rendering of devices with Fluent-style interfaces on them.
On multiple of these rendered devices the UI was cropped off or was rendered upside down. On a landing page of their 'premier' DESIGN language marketing site to show off how great their DESIGN system was.
It stayed that way until the Fluent2 website launched.
They institutionally do not care.

Democracy is like health: You don't appreciate it until you lose it.
@BartoszMilewski like health, it also only works when you participate
@mhoye its a bit "Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" but better then no explanation for this.
@plaugg I'm not even sure how to reply to that. Is this also a darmok and jalaad session? "XKCD, the contempt tangible".
I got the sky dome and most of the 🚗 rendering via OpenGL ES2 today
@ChateauErin it's going to be Horse all year. better get used to it
@mcc no kidding, I actually went outside and it is 50F/10C and snowing here. so this is Horse?
(it's quite windy so snow's blowing in from the mountains)
I’ve watched this about a thousand times and now you can, too. This is my anthrm for this decade.
@janl one of those … just keeps getting funnier 😂

@cwebber now I'm thinking maybe we should just start charging unknown contributors money to review their pull requests.
@cwebber thinking about this further, a very clear "under no circumstances are ai generated anything to be submitted to or accepted by the project for any reason at all" notice is probably still a good idea regardless of whether a project is getting sandbagged with bot spam as it at least reassures honest people where the maintainers stand on these things
