Without comprehensive re-valuations any tweaking (or more) of the way in which Council Tax is charged will be storing up political problems for the Govt., although equally any process of revaluation is also politically fraught.

A astute political leader would grasp the nettle now & launch a major revaluation project with the expectation it would be able to be largely finished & enacted ahead of the next election.

But, sadly we do not have any astute political leaders!

Labour MPs have told Rachel Reeves that a threshold of £1.5M is too low for any form of 'mansion tax'... across the rest of the country a £1.5mn house is definitely an indicator of a rich owner, but not so much in London.

As so often, policy will be driven by the concerns of those within the M25 & their priorities... draw your own conclusions on what this says about the Labour party.
