Before I get sucked into writing my own... is there a light weight 'turn this site into an #activitypub' project out there already? Basically, add it to a static site and it treats all urls from that site (except the activity pub end points) as articles written by a user called @[email protected] or something similar. Bonus points for a little embed script that displays replies to the pages on the pages.
Something driven by an #rss feed could work as well?

- #Mastodon is the new IRC, X, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Facebook
- #Deltachat is the new email and two-way email mailing list
- #RSS is the new one-way email mailing list
- static content generators (say, #Hugo, #Jekyll, etc) are the new web CMS'. No CDN, as they're so lightweight.
- #XMPP is the new #Discord - and no encryption is used in groups
- #Flarum is the new goto for a persisting, searchable support forum
- #Signal is for encrypted 1-to-1 chats and encrypted group chats (when none of the above suffice), as they get the encryption right in a very reliable way *for the group chat* (despite being a centralized service).

Hi folks, @pluralistic wrote this nice thread about #RSS and #rssfeed a caoule of days ago. I am still looking for a reliable ( #opensource) app for #Ubuntu and #Android.
Being able to sync things among devices would be nice but is not required.
Any recommendations?

Many moons ago, I used #RSS feed readers to read blogs. A recent post by @pluralistic has pointed out that this technology is not gone, and we can use it to make the experience of the Internet, to borrow Cory's word, bearable.

Something I really like is reading articles through my RSS feed reader (I use News from @nextcloud ). #RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is still just a brilliant old bit of tech that lets you find and read what you want, without obnoxious algorithms or questionable web design getting in the way.
