It's all go at the moment. My standalone Arthurian novel, The Cleaving, is a frankly incredible price this week from Amazon. This explores the familiar story from the perspective of the women involved. You have until Friday to grab it!
Hello people who enjoy #writing! I've had some interest in a 5 week online course for adult non-coders to try their hand at #interactivefiction - i.e. stories that include branching narrative based on the readers' choices. The course would cover some of the mechanics, but also advice on structuring interactive plots with managable complexity, looking at emotional hooks that work better or worse when readers have active agency, using interactive fiction tools to capture options to show editors and beta-readers in non-interactive works, and some examples of expanding existing writing into an interactive experience.
If you like this idea, I'm putting together a mailing list of potential course members who are keen enough they'd like to have a voice in the scheduling of the course. Send me your email via DM or email me at michael@mavnn.eu and I'll let you know when there are updates on the course and nothing else; this is not a general purpose "get spammed by Michael" email list. Costs will likely run at around 55 GBP per person.

#ScribesAndMakers Day 1: What's one creative thing you'd like to get done this month?
Get proficient enough in my musical skills so I can play simple songs smoothly on my mandolin.
#WritersCoffeeClub Day 1: How satisfied are you with your current writerly ‘voice’?
It depends on the story. Sometimes it's in first-person, sometimes in third person, And it changes on whether I write poetry or prose.
It's always evolving, so I'm not sure if I'd be completely satisfied.
February 1: How satisfied are you with your current writerly ‘voice’?
Working through the sequel, the voice seems OK. There is my authorial voice (the whole books feels like me) and the voices of the different characters.
Pure satisfaction may be found by the reader but I am never utterly satisfied with any writing.

#ScribesAndMakers 1/2: What's 1 creative thing you'd like to get done this month?
Finish the strong first draft of the sequel to the Crooked Medium's Guide to Murder, holding title Crooked Medium Two and get it to betas. Absolute priority.
It is standing up well but I am making a policy decision to not use the full formality of Victorian etiquette where it might confuse the modern reader.

#ScribesAndMakers Feb. 1: What's one creative thing you'd like to get done this month?
I'd like to make progress with the revision to First Fire, my YA fantasy story set in Ancient Greece.
#WritersCoffeeClub Feb. 1: How satisfied are you with your current writerly ‘voice’?
I'm generally okay with it. It evolves with every book I write because I learn something new each time I write a book.
When your copyeditor lets you keep your comma splices, semicolons, and em-dashes because they get your lyrical writing style 😍 😍 😍
#WritersCoffeeClub 1 Feb: How satisfied are you with your current writerly ‘voice’?
It is what it is. I'm currently writing #histfic and I think it suits that genre. In my #writing group I've tried alternative voices for different genres, and people have liked them. I'll stick with the one I have for now.
Píp the cat was intently watching a school of fish dancing in the water under the quay while she listened to Ból's stories of the forests of Dimkarat. Their voice existed only for her and did not disturb the fish, so she did not mind.
We could just take a quick look, we'd be back by dinner. Ból said, while intently watching all the fish in the harbor. The voice in Pip's head was drenched in hope and excitement.
"You said it's thousands of tree-lengths away?" Píp looked up, confused.
Yes, in this realm it is, but we are not bound here. There was a smidge of uncertainty in the words.
"Bóóól..." Píp's tail began to twitch.
See, you are now very much like me. Certainty. But you are young. Young for a cat, very young for a spirit. These last words felt incomplete.
"...aaaaand?"
Well, you are a cat. Which makes everything they hesitated more interesting.
"Back by dinner, you say." Píp cocked her head. "Solifan bought fish yesterday, and since he doesn't eat meat, it's going to be good dinner."
Ooooh, have I told you of the river trout? Images of rushing water and rainbow scales came with the voice.
Píp's ears stood attention and her pupils grew.
"Fresh fish, now we're talking. So how do we get there?"
#WritersCoffeeClub 2/1. How satisfied are you with your current writerly ‘voice’?
I think my voice is well established; if I worry about anything it’s whether it always gets sufficiently inflected to fit different characters.

I think this month's IndieWeb Carnival blogging challenge will appeal to a lot of people here.
