This week I've been mainly reading, no. 273.
Caroline Chapman' book of accessible art history, Nineteenth Century Women Artists: Sisters of the Brush (2021) is a synthetic account of a range of relatively well known & perhaps more obscure women artists working between 1800-1914. Its more a survey than a book with a coherent central argument (other than women artists confront many obstacles), but as an introduction to female painters & sculptors it works well.
