A smell is a nuisance, it should not be a jailable crime. Nuisance crimes often have an intended target group, like the unhoused with sleeping in public violations or people with psychiatric illnesses and public disturbance violations. They are unequally applied laws that disproportionately punish behavior that largely white, middle- and upper-class people are inconvenienced by.

This country is addicted to criminalization and it ruins peoples lives.
