we have a blanket filter on our accounts on fedi to search for the words "junior" and "senior" because, while there are genuine cases where they are used within the explicitly narrow purposes where they are allowed (for example, talking about senior citizens)

most of the time, it means that someone's about to say some bullshit and I'd like to be informed before they say that bullshit

like, not even for a fucking joke, just do not, do not pretend that this distinction is even worthwhile ever. these are the tools of the enemy; we do not use them. even if you say "well, I mean in the idealised case, where junior and senior actually refer to a level of experience and not-"

stop. what the fuck are you talking about. what do you mean you can actually quantify experience on a one-dimensional scale and classify some people as better than others.

the only scale I know is one that marginalises the fuck out of people who are seen as worthless regardless of their experience level and gives plausible deniability about, well, I'm more experienced than you.

everyone has a place at the table. if you disagree, they can take your seat.

end of vent
