love this

https://www.thetimes.com/article/b6bcfef6-cd4f-486f-a0d3-3e9a79333352

A German tourist sued a restaurant because its sauce is too hot. So I tried it

A litigious visitor claimed the salsa at Los Tacos No. 1 in Times Square made his tongue burn. I wondered: How bad could it be?

@regehr I'm not sure why anyone focuses on this lawsuit by the man, the other two are good too. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/14/nyregion/german-tourist-new-york-lawsuit-walmart-nypd.html

@void_friend @regehr Embarrassed to say that a) I didn't grow up too far from Schemmerhofen, and b) this is absolutely on par for the folks down there 🤷

@regehr @floe @void_friend I learned recently that Germans are actually more litigious than the US! (https://eaccny.com/news/member-news/dont-let-these-10-legal-myths-stop-your-doing-business-in-the-u-s-myths-6-and-7-the-u-s-is-very-litigious-and-that-is-too-threatening-to-a-small-company-like-ours-as-a-result-the-risk/ has a list of the top 5, Germany is number one)

But apparently this is mostly because we love suing the government for issuing wrong parking tickets and stuff and our neighbors for having hedges that are too high.

https://eaccny.com

Don’t Let These 10 Legal Myths Stop Your Doing Business In The U.S.: Myths #6 and 7 – The U.S. is very litigious and that is too threatening to a small company like ours. As a result, the risk of liability and lawsuits relating to our products and/or services is too great.

In the most recent article in this series, I explained how many non-US companies, including Baltic businesses, are discouraged from exploiting a robust US marketplace by Myth #5 –If we enter the US we may be jeopardizing our valuable intellectual property. In this installment, I will address Myths #6 and 7 which are related - The US is very litigious and that is too threatening to a small company like ours. As a result, the risk of liability and lawsuits relating to our products and/or services is too great. Like the other Myths, this one, too, is easily debunked.

@regehr Salsa verde is too hot. Dude would be granted instant asylum as a white refugee by the current administration.
