Wait. Pushin' *40* years.
My bad.
As my wife is prone to remark, "He's not very *pretty*, but he's not very *smart*, either."

@GeePawHill Time must move faster there on the elite coasts. It can’t have been more than 20 years here in the heartland.

@marick @GeePawHill I don't care what you say, R.E.M. still is the best new band.
@[email protected] My wife of 20+ years occasionally makes the statement "You're the one who's here" which depending on context, timing, and tone, can be absolutely amazing to hear or the harshest damning with the faintest praise.
@GeePawHill it's one of the few songs that make me cry.

@springdiesel How could anyone with a heart not?
Not quite thirty years on, and I am struck by how this take neither underplays nor overplays.
It's *ruthless*.
Of course, I adored it from the get-go. But, you know, I'm an empath to begin with, and a sap to end with. I love a lot of things in the moment that I will later back away from.
But now, as I say, not quite 30 years later, hearing it.
It's fucking *amazing*.
