The Court of the Tangerine Tyrant seems to be getting a bit more serious about its aspiration to 'acquire' Greenand one way or another.... prompting Danish & Greenlands leaders to object.
Perhaps if Trump cannot engineer a way against Venezuela in time for the mid-term elections, a full scale invasion of Greenland would do the trick of distracting the MAGA crowd from Epstein & inflation?

Either the EU acknowledges greenlands right to their own destiny, or they go authoritarian and deny greenland a say.
The best way out of this situation, which also will save the EU face, is to say that this question is to be settled by the people of greenland in a public election.
If they vote "no" then the EU can talk the talk. If they vote "yes" then we must all congratulate Trump.
Now... on the other side of the sea, what Trump should do, is to offer each greenlander 1 million USD and then ask them to have a vote.
Another win/win/win path is for Denmark, Sweden and Norway to go together, and offer Trump the following package deal...
If yoi liberate Ukraine and restore its original borders, you will get:
1. The peace price.
2. Greenland, _if_, the people vote "yes".
The EU will save billions and billions, Ukraine will survive, and Trump will get greenland and his beloved peace prize.
Everyone wins!
yes, at the core is the issue of self-determination - the only people who should be deciding on Greenland's future are the Greenlanders, but I'm not sure its going to play out like that

I'm not sure what the legal position in the USA is.... but if the war is elsewhere, then I would not imagine there is an impediment, there are elections during the Vietnam war were there not?

On checking, you're quite right. I do rather suspect that Trumps puppet masters will conjure something up, though. A war is a great distraction in any case.
