I certainly hope the EU can put the same sanctions on the US for attacking Venezuela as they did on Russia for attacking Ukraine. This is indefensible.
I certainly hope the EU can put the same sanctions on the US for attacking Venezuela as they did on Russia for attacking Ukraine. This is indefensible.
@gargron that means: hey Donnie if you do this again, we have to think about sanctions for you.
@Gargron i get the feeling but they are clapping for Israel televising a genocide; you think they're gonna give a single solitary fuck for south America? Nah, Europe will be celebrating the continuation of their work
@gargron 😹.
Nope. Too dependent.
This was probably already said in the long thread of replies to your post, and probably in a much better way that I will say it now.
Be careful relying on any powerful country as your friend. This backfired with import taxes, and now we are seeing *one* example when your friend does something unilaterally without discussing it with you. And, as explicitly said by the president, so that the USA can control petrol in the invaded country.
And the US is just one example. There is China, too, for example, among others.
"If the mob threatens to beat you up if you don't pay - and you pay - and they beat you up anyway? You don't have to listen to the mob anymore."
@Gargron
As an American, I regretfully agree with this. The actions of the US government with regards to Venezuela are illegal and extreme. Every member of the US government that participated needs to be sanctioned, and the US itself should be properly punished by the rest of the world for this... travesty.
The Epstein Files war on Venezuela - started by the orange stain - cannot be allowed to go unanswered.
@Gargron @repeattofade if they won’t sanction the zion*st entity for committing genocide they won’t bother sanctioning the US
@Gargron LOL, does Europe cares about Latin America?
@Gargron This US-American hopes so too.
@Gargron I think they should use the exact same sanctions as the ones they put on the Israeli military regime....
Ohh wait...
@Gargron maybe and the 90 day visa waiver
@gargron
Why wait for a response “from above”?

The change of era does not only refer to the fail of major power nations.
It also means that every single person helps to shape it.
Bottom up instead of top down! 👍
@Gargron Consistency matters. If international law means anything, it has to apply to allies and rivals alike; otherwise sanctions become politics, not principles.
I can’t agree more!
@Gargron Sanctions against Russia (a terrorist country) are very weak. And Russia's circumvention of sanctions is ignored. If you want the same for the United States, that's strange
@Gargron
Actually I was wondering about the impact this intervention may have on the war in Ukraine, if it may weaken Russia.
"These ships are used primarily for trading oil, but not exclusively. EL PAÍS has detected the use of these cargo ships to smuggle stolen grain from occupied Ukraine or transport scrap metal from war zones."
https://english.elpais.com/international/2025-12-22/the-open-war-against-the-oil-phantom-fleet.html
@Gargron too meek and delusional. still hoping that “daddy” will come back to nato 🤦
Or, for a longer game... the EU could develop a similar snatch-squad capability and place it at the disposal of the ICC.
@Gargron they didn't even sanction the UAE for the genocide in Sudan. The reality is that the EU is celebrating the capture of Maduro privately
YouTube
Operation Enduring Epstein
@Gargron - Sanction Trump and Hegseth. Seize all Trump Orgnization properties, like Putin;s yachts.
@Gargron this leaves a door open for china to take Taiwan
@Gargron The EU will write a very strongly worded email that will never be sent because it’s vetoed by Hungry.
@Gargron they would get locked out of all their Microsoft accounts like the ICC.
@Gargron again, this just hurts people in us who dont support trump
@Gargron ... This two Situation are not the same and not comparable in that simplicity. So let's simply not do it this way.
I'm not backing up Trump or his reigin by saying this, but simplifying situations like this will certainly only fuel the devide of the extremes in our societies.
@Gargron there have needed to be sanctions on us for a very long time.
American here, and they should absolutely do it - we deserve it.
@Gargron I agree in principle, but sanctioning the US is economically an extremely bigger ask than sanctioning Russia.
@Gargron Should. But won't.
@Gargron EU tried to solve a problem. It doesn't mean we can solve all the problems. And we should not even try.
@Gargron Entire Western World is Hypocrite.
@Gargron They won't. Even when the US takes Greenland, EU will stay subservient.
It's sickening.
@Gargron
They should impose actual sanctions, not the pretend ones used against russia. But they won't.
@Gargron As a US citizen, I agree completely.
@Gargron How the mighty have fallen! Russia invades Ukraine, USA invades Venezuela… How long will it take China to invade Taiwan, now that the example has been set?
@Gargron one can hope, but give the absolute dependency that the EU still has towards the US, that will not happen. We need to first:
- bring back Digital sovereignty to EU (Linux and FOSS pretty much only option)
- economic sovereignty (ECB are doing good work on this with digital EUR, etc - but they need more support)
- military sovereignty (unfortunatly still needed. Not sure how long it will take even with the significant increases in spending that we're seeing now)
foreign interference is always about ensuring compliance not democracy, despite the PR. we're fine with friendly dictatorships and always claim that there was corruption in the electoral system of any democracy that opposes US interests.
@Gargron It's indefensible that you do not spot the difference, unless you want to delegitimize Zelensky.
@Gargron Let's see now, Zelensky won an election that everybody agrees about was honest, whereas Maduro is a dictator holding thousands of people without trial who came to power in elections nobody claims were honest.
You can't lump both invasions together as the same thing. That is an insult to the Ukraine, and to Zelensky. I'm sure Putin loves to hear it.
@edgeofeurope This is a wild take. How does it matter who won which elections? It is an invasion of a sovereign country. Who elected the US to enforce foreign elections? Do you understand the US just wants to claim Venezuelan oil and is following Putin's playbook to a letter?
@Gargron Fine, both invasions are the same thing. Seed if I fucking care.
@Gargron Just wait, people are scared of Trump changing that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMsLO4lsvpc
YouTube
@Gargron can Europe please take Trump and Putin to the Hague : Putin for genocide and Trump for any of the thousands of crimes he gets away with in the US including pedophilia, rape, fascism, corruption, war-crimes, ...
@Gargron This aggression will expose the hypocrisy of all EU nations, they all are colony of USA. They cant oppose USA as they oppose Russia.
Fking monsters
@Gargron of course you'd ask yourself that question how should you known, being an obviously long-term victim of russian propaganda.
The actual question should be: Why the fuck haven't the US decapitated fucking Russia from Putin?
@Gargron Евгений, а ты правда понимаешь по-русски?
@Gargron We both know that they won’t.
@Gargron This is an #invasion of another #sovereign country by #MAGAmerica which falls foul of #international #law. Unconscionable, no matter how bad the Venezuelan government is. #UN and #EU sanctions definitely called for.
#tRump the international #criminal. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@Gargron Won’t happen considering the EU never recognized the Maduro government.
@Gargron yeah! Our Europe is well known for being brave and the Human Rights Mecca!
First Russia, then Israel, and now U.S.A.
for sure 😞
@Gargron won't happen when this is what the High Representative posted
https://bsky.app/profile/kajakallas.bsky.social/post/3mbjb57n5uc2y
@Gargron we are to weak to oppose the US. But we should be preparing for the eventuality that the Americans could one day pull the same shit with Greenland.
@Gargron Agreed and deserved. #fucktrump
@Gargron Always carefully check the skin colour / popularity of the people targeted.
@Gargron I just learned today that hope isn't a strategy
@Gargron They didn't do it when the US and Israel attacked Iran, so they won't do it here either.
@Gargron You do realize that Russia is bombing Ukrainian cities for almost 4 years since large-scale war started and many years before, do you? I’m not saying there shouldn’t be consequences for US for what they did. I’m just saying that comparison is ridiculous and gives nothing but few more excuses for Russian propaganda to continue doing what they’ve been doing
@alex How is what I said giving any excuses for Russian propaganda?
@Gargron not your words per se, the fact that things are compared and looked at as they are they same
I hope I didn’t offend you. My point is that these things are not equal. However, they both are horrible and require prosecution
Fuck Putin. Fuck Trump. Fuck dictatorship and falsification. Fuck war
@alex Russia's invasion of Ukraine also started with a supposed "military operation". It is the same playbook. Do you want me to wait until more Venezuelans are dead before condemning the act of international aggression?
@Gargron what in my response made you think so? I’m just saying that comparison of two things is wrong
Nobody should die because of someone’s political or economic benefit. All the inter-state interventions and military operations must stop and never happen again
People lives matter the most
@Gargron 2026 - and the shitshow just continues.
@Gargron all it takes is to nit buy US products... Avoid big companies like coca-cola, mcdonalds, meta, microsoft, google and voila!
@Gargron
Sanctions? For what? For not arresting him for so long?
@koteisaev The US has no authority to "arrest" someone on foreign soil. The word you're looking for is "kidnapping".
@Gargron
You speak like we live on a fairy planed with unicorns and dragons. Here on Earth where even UN has been created with strong impact from bloody dictator Stalin, what made UN dead on arrival.
Rule of law works only where all participants are civilized. Even within EU Orban and Fico making EU paralized and unable do anything except express concern.
As result humanity overall still on "king is whose gun biggest" stage of development 1/2
@Gargron This is Trump playing big-boy dictator. He thinks this makes him look strong to his daddy, Putin, but he just looks pathetic and he’s only ultimately helping China. The freefall of America is in full swing now. Former allies will be trampling each other to form tighter relationships with China. Who knew making America great would be such a boon for China?? (everyone did)
@Gargron The Venezuelan government called it an “imperialist attack” and urged citizens to take to the streets.
@Gargron This is what the latest Nobel Peace Price wanted. I think the Scandinavian committee should be pleased
@Martin_de_Zavala @Gargron
Had to look it up, but indeed, María Corina Machado, the 2025 Nobel Peace Price winner, did suport US strikes on Venezuela.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mar%C3%ADa_Corina_Machado#Foreign_policy
@Martin_de_Zavala Because they didn't give Trump the Nobel Peace Prize they are responsible for him starting a war?
@Gargron @Martin_de_Zavala
The winner of the 2025 nobel peace price supported the US strikes on Venezuela.
@Gargron She openly dedicated the award to Trump and supported invasion, nothing hidden there
@Martin_de_Zavala Oh, you're talking about the person who received the most recent Nobel Peace Prize. You should be more clear in your writing.
@Gargron Sorry, yes I made a mistake. It's the Nobel War Prize
@Martin_de_Zavala Again, that is the name of the award. Awards typically don't have needs and wants as they are not sentient. You're referring to the laureate.
@Gargron The EU are America's vassals. USA controls the currency you trade in and control cyber. USA just sanctioned ICC judges for making an unfavorable ruling and functionally deleted them from modern life. EU needs independence from USA before they can take serious political action.
@Gargron Europe consumes ~5x more oil than it produces.
We have voted for the growth that has led us here: https://mastodon.social/@urlyman/115717152261231548 So politicians will follow that course.
Every European that wants to be less tied to US hegemony should do everything in their power to reduce their personal resource footprint and to vote at every opportunity for degrowth
@Gargron Europe will be as complicit in this as they are in genocide.
@Gargron fuck, I’m not usually someone who tries to avoid paying taxes (I believe it’s a required part of living in society), but man I really want to figure out how to not have to pay my US taxes this year (I live in France now) so that my money doesn’t keep going to funding shit like this.
@Gargron I'm the last person to approve current actions of the US administration, but deeply disappointed with such a rage-bait take.
It is inhumane to compare suffering of millions of Ukrainians protecting their democratic country, with millions dead or injured, and tens of millions displaced, that endures everyday bombardment of critical infrastructure in the middle of the winter with targeted attack on military objects by US in Venezuela, a country that was already under EU sanction list
Sanctions were placed on Russian oligarchs in the wake of the war in Ukraine.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-01-03/trump-says-venezuela-s-maduro-captured-and-flown-out-of-country-mjy3kziv
Place sanctions on American oligarchs.
Paul Singer won the Citgo lawsuit. It's not the 1st time this vulture capitalist seized ships & bankrupted a nation.

@Gargron Venezuela was selling resources to other regimes, and Venezuela drug's leader Maduro was on capture list
@Gargron There a little trick there: It's not a war against Venezuela, it's the war against drugs. They only shoot drugs, not people.
@Gargron best they can do is silence.
@Gargron it's ignored Israel so I don't see why it would be any different.
@Gargron America is HUGE I MEAN FUCK HUGEST TROUBLE MOFO!
@Gargron as usual the Europe is not the problem, always all the problems came from Russia and USA.
@Gargron Also, with this coming so soon after those two criminals met, I'm wondering if Netanyahu is going to simultaneously start something in West Asia.
@Gargron As well as deploying anti air/missile/drone defences to Greenland and Canada. As well as prepping ground forces to follow.
@Gargron Sanctions do not achieve desired results.
Having said that, the day the EU becomes strong enough to do this is the day they will have achieved real freedom and independence. The current EU leaders won't do this, because they are lapdogs for America. EU may vocally complain about US action, but they still ultimately serve US interests.
@Gargron then the EU would learn what it means to not only have everything in US "clouds", but also realize that even where we don't, people access everything through the OS of the american Microsoft, american Apple or american Google...
@Gargron The EU is no better than the United States, or Russia for that matter. The same wolves in sheep's clothing.
Unlikely. They're not even reacting when the US is meddling in the EU itself.
@Gargron They will not, sadly.
@Gargron
As long as the EU is not capable of defending itself and Ukraine from Russia, the US and Israel can do whatever they want.
@Gargron So far they have attacked ports, airports, military bases, the presidential palace, the legislative palace and some other areas.
@Gargron We won't, the US is our biggest commercial partner and ally. The best we can hope from EU is silence, but more probably it will be excuses on why we will actually support them.
@Gargron Ukraine has a legitimate government. Venezuela does not.
EU did not recognize 2024 elections and Maduro's "win":
https://www.dw.com/en/eu-extremely-concerned-over-venezuela-election/a-70043273
@Gargron I doubt it, but some European countries might show a bit of a backbone and at least protest.
@Gargron lmao, they can't even sanction an entity starving children in 8K Ultra HD...
@Gargron Oh! No! The UE is providing the EU with energy and technology, so they shouldn't be sanctioned... Wait a minute! They're selling them! 😱
@Gargron pigs will evolve to grow wings and fly before that ever happens, as always rules for thee not ourselves. More like it will be how to form an alliance - "in the name of to stop a dictator or war on drugs" - definitely not for own corporations to have a chance of getting even a tiny piece of the pie afterwards...
@Gargron Won't happen. It *should* but it won't.
