Social mobility should not be regarded as a substitute for equality but as something associated with and thus complementary to it. There is a pretty strong relationship between the two across countries. Occasionally somewhere does better on one than on the other - #France does economic equality better than social mobility while the reverse seems to be the case for the #Netherlands .

@EUCommission Audio industry needs an option for something with low ripple, simplified negotiation (there's still no sufficiently affordable, easy-to-implement, reliable solution to this! PD micros cost more than the rest of my BoM combined!) and better physical robustness. It can replace the barrel jack with some of these features but it's not there yet.

Yes the last 10% will be hard, yes we should probably consume less stuff, yes capitalism.

But right now we have proven technologies, available at the necessary scale to real make some serious progress; and they are actually cheaper than doing the wrong things. The "easy" parts make up 80-90% of the problem, so we can fix 80-90% of the problem now.

Literally the only thing stopping us is that leaders all over the world chose not to do so.

I know its techno optimism, but forgive me.

There are so many solutions available now that could massively accelerate mitigations to our current climate woes. Solar, wind and batteries (and big nukes where they make sense) for power. Heat pumps for low grade industrial heating and home haeting. >1800C heat batteries for industrial heat. Even properly biodegradable plastics to help with direct pollution.

When we curl up our parallelogram to get a torus, there's also another problem. The numbers along the left edge aren't equal to the corresponding numbers at the right edge. But they're close! Each number at right is 81/80 times the corresponding number at left. I've drawn red lines connecting them.

So, we just one from each of these 4 pairs. We've already picked one number for all the corners, so we just need to do this for the remaining 2 pairs.

Can you imagine the perceptional dysmorphia of ourselves and the emotional scars that an entire industry has done to us the LGBTQ+ that we cry for what is the MOST common ending on straight-led series and movies when it happens to two of us?

My heart almost got out of my chest because two men were holding hands ON A MOVING CAR. You guys see this on your side of the fence and think "romance" we see it and think immediately "fuck, they are going to die!"

We've been drilled by that industry year after year that we do not deserve to be happy.

Now we want to curl up our parallelogram to get a torus. If we do this, gluing together opposite edges, there will be exactly 12 numbers on our torus - just right for a scale!

There's a problem: the numbers at the corners are not all equal. But they're pretty close! And they're close to √2 - the frequency of the tritone, the 'devil in music'.

25/18 = 1.3888....
45/32 = 1.40625
64/45 = 1.4222....
36/25 = 1.44

So we'll just pick one.

Youtube did the right thing and resolved my complaint within a few hours. And they decided that the clearly fraudulent ad is... not fraudulent.

Way to go, Youtube. Way to go.

It's a little bit ironic that this ad got shown to me while watching @pluralistic on the Daily Show, in anticipation of meeting him on #39C3.
