@pluralistic loved the 39c3 talk, I've been using your 'like all the best Americans, I'm Canadian' line everywhere.
@lcamtuf (specifically asking because I love the drawn pen line look)
@gsuberland The hard way, i.e., draw components in Affinity, apply one of the pen-like vector brushes to all lines, and arrange the components by hand using object snaps.
I wish there was an EDA tool like that but I never wished it hard enough to build one. It wouldn't be that difficult...
@pluralistic This is a great idea!!!!! And something that people on the ground should most certainly consider to organize around, an opportunity to undo the DMCA is certainly worth pushing #copyright #DMCA #DMCA1201

Just had a Framework Laptop 12 delivered. Proper review to follow, but one thing to note immediately:
If you're planning to recycle some components from older machines and therefore order the FW12 without said components to save money, check that they fit first. The Framework 12 has one single DDR5 slot for memory and an M.2 2230 slot (that's the really short kind you'd usually stick a wifi card or similar in) for storage. Therefore, do not, like me,
Buy 2x16Gb RAM at today's prices expecting to be able to stick them both in the computer like you would in a less compact one. (Good news is after a couple more years of AI bubble I'll probably be able to retire on that extra 16Gb stick.)
Expect to be able to reuse any of the M.2 drives you have sitting in older hardware.
I have some thoughts on the hardware already:
It's definitely the budget version of a Framework. Chassis is plastic and feels oddly chunky even though it's not especially thicker than that of the FW13. There's no fingerprint reader either.
Screen seems very good and looks very good, as far as I can tell without having made it past the BIOS screen because I'm currently one M.2 drive short of a working system. Drawback is that unlike the FW13 the screen is glossy. This is, of course, because unlike the FW13 it's a touchscreen. I don't know yet whether it's a good or even working touchscreen.
It looks like the kind of laptop you'd get for your kids. It has that price point too. It's definitely missing powerhouse specs—I got the pricier version and it's still just an i5. You won't be doing serious gaming on this. Probably OK for programming work unless it involves rustc or anything similarly intense.

I keep coming back to what Kevin Kruse said here: the Trump regime is trying to get an ICE officer killed. That’s the pretext they desperately want.

How soon before one ICE/gestapo agent kills another ICE/gestapo agent to frame a civilian in order to placate #Piggy ?
what's a CLI that does good at displaying vaguely tree/table shaped data? I need inspiration for something
@embr I'm a fan of htop's aesthetics, but it may or may not be an ideal reference for your use-case

I'm getting reports from people in Britain about MX record issues causing email to our textuality.com addresses (Google Workspace) to fail delivery. Anyone else seeing this kind of thing?

I’m glad this blog post from Norbert Heger is getting so much attention. I thought I was losing my mind trying to resize macOS Tahoe windows. Even keeping the rounded window corners, Apple should be able to fix this now that it’s so perfectly illustrated.
