First it's the trans folks, then it's all the other queers. And if anyone around here didn't see it coming, hie you to a library and learn something about history before they try to burn all of those down.
I am floored by the entire idea that somebody sent Bad Bunny an invitation to their wedding and he turned around and said, I can't make it, I'll be busy headlining the super bowl halftime show but why don't you both meet me there and you can get married in the middle of it.

@mhoye Wow the more I hear about this guy the more I think I like him
Should probably check out his music at some point....
@inthehands I think the most important of your thread is the "right now" part. If people decide it necessary and jump on board in the weeks leading up to the election, it will be too late to have maximum effect, and may even deepen the crisis by ratcheting everyone up to 11 when they're already likely to be on edge.
@aeva my job should not exist, but it has to exist because someone else is making the world worse. Best case scenario is zero sum
IRC is bad, and the reason every time a new chat service collapses people seem to go "literally everywhere except IRC" is that "literally anything except IRC" is what people want
@mcc Discord/Slack/etc proves that people want IRC, but only if there's a lot of other stuff bolted on to make it pop.
Plain-IRC is a milkshake which will bring precisely zero boys to the yard in this, the Year of our Glorb Twenty Twenty Whatever.

Biggest batch so far. With @kviksilver providing almost a 1000.
I’ve given up counting and just measure in grams now.
Do a Zydeco Superbowl halftime show entirely in Cajun French next year, cowards
asking my kids if this is hatsune miku just to see what happens
@mhoye TIL that if you do a DuckDuckGo search for "hatsune miku" you get this

@schwa she got a pig ear to chew on and feels better about life now I think.
@Bronwyn as she should.
Yes, Windows (ab)users it's your favorite time of the month once again (ducks). Microsoft today released updates to fix more than 50 security holes in its Windows operating systems and other software, including patches for a whopping six "zero-day" vulnerabilities that attackers are already exploiting in the wild.

@briankrebs thanks for keeping up with these!
A student activist and journalist, Amandla Thomas-Johnson, was shocked to learn that Google responded to an ICE subpoena by handing over extensive personal data—including bank and credit information—without giving him the chance to challenge it. The subpoena, obtained by The Intercept, lacked any clear justification beyond vague references to an “investigation or inquiry” related to immigration enforcement. Thomas-Johnson, who had participated briefly in a protest at Cornell University, believes ICE aimed to track and detain him, but he has since fled to Geneva and then Dakar to escape potential repercussions. This case raises serious concerns about government overreach, privacy violations, and the suppression of dissent. Sigh had to unfollow yet another Internet-person I’ve looked up to because they got completely weird about AI and it’s suddenly the only thing they can talk about.
It’s basically a cult. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@thomasfuchs
My coworker who drank the koolaid on AI now appears to be looking queasy with it, as if it's coming back up soon (to extend the metaphor). Hoping that happens sooner rather than later so I don't have to keep having arguments about how (he thought) all research can be done by questioning chatGPT... At the current stage, he's still using it but he's angry at it all the time, so with any luck he'll realise...
Anyway, point of this anecdote is that the cult isn't inescapable.
Zipbomb JSON.
Someone who is not me should formulate a maximally-malicious JSON file. I made one with a nesting depth of ~182 million, but "jq" gives up early, at only around depth 3,000. So one trick would be to find the right balance of nesting and array length that stays under typical parsers' limits as long as possible, while requiring as much RAM as possible to get there.

Ok FINE, since you have all failed me, I wrote my own JSON bomb generator. https://jwz.org/b/yk2x
