@schwa @kviksilver I am seriously considering finally buying a 3D printer. This project might get me motivated to clear the space for it.
@mjg @kviksilver let me
Know if you need any help?

A white MAGA man shot & killed his daughter because she criticized Trump. Why is no one asking the questions they'd ask if he was Black, brown, immigrant, or Muslim?🧐
For example:
•Where was he radicalized?
•Why is their culture so violent?
•Is this what they call "honor killing?"
•Why won't they assimilate to our values?
•What radicalism are they teaching in their churches?
•Was he here legally from Europe or was he an illegal?
•Did you know they cite their Bible to command women to be silent?
In the entire history of formalised sex verification in women's sport from the 50s to the present day, do you know how many instances of men disguising themselves in order to sneak into women's sport they've found? Zero.
And in men's sport, the practice of sex verification has not existed at all in the two and a half millennia since the story of Kallipateira.
If you have a Ring (Amazon) camera, you are -- or will become -- a tool of the surveillance state. Is that really what you want to be?
The history of gender-segregated sports is largely a history of men not wanting to have to compete with women & not the other way around.
Relatedly: women's athletic achievements have been hampered by horrible diet-culture that has pressured female athletes to stay chronically undernourished.
I built two new tools to help coding agents demonstrate their work beyond just running automated tests: Showboat and Rodney https://simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/10/showboat-and-rodney/
@simon Nice! I’ve recently had success with agents building a marimo notebook, which seems similar to Showboat. It’s lightweight, really just some python code, and can show the output of commands/tables/charts.
And honestly, I've always had pretty good students. Some of the other instructors bring up issues they face or disrespectful students, but I haven't had to deal with that. Maybe if a student doesn't like me they just go full remote but can still pass the class, lol.
@Moosader My wife plays online games with some... uh... intense... players. And I sometimes ask her if she's ever had trouble. Not once. Zero times.
Listening to her play, I'm pretty sure it's the Schoolmaam Voice she uses. Even when asking a question, it is extremely clear that she will brook exactly zero shit from anybody. And thus, she does not have to.
@blong "they've started using / accepting LLM generated commits"
Based on what do you say this?
His motion mainly argues that two former FTX employees who didn't testify (Daniel Chapsky and Ryan Salame) would have undercut prosecutors' narrative, but were threatened out of testifying. He also claims Nishad Singh was coerced by prosecutors into changing his testimony.
It also repeats his longstanding argument that the funds were never missing and that FTX was never insolvent. (Judge Kaplan got a bit sick of this argument during trial, pointing out that repayment doesn't negate fraud).

I'm not a great bookkeeper but these people just continue to make me itch.
#ScribesAndMakers Feb 10: What is the most out of character creative thing you enjoy? That thing that never matches the assumptions about you.
I dunno. I like listening to soundtracks and movie music. Ambient is fine, but film scores are part of a story, and actually build to climaxes, wax and wane, etc. Good to code and write to, as well.
I guess I like getting old computer hardware working, too. Almost more than playing with/using it. 😁
Oh WOW bitwarden for desktop just got a lot uglier
There's now a huge unnecessary empty blue area in the upper left, underneath which is a huge unnecessary logo. Why not put the logo in the empty area?!
@mcc Only tangentially related, but annoyingly, passkeys in Bitwarden for Android no longer work on my phone, although I cannot rule out issues related to Google Play and/or GrapheneOS's sandboxing.
If a Labour PM (unlikely to be Starmer) after the next election heads the largest, but a minority party in the Commons, will they draw from the Macron playbook & refuse to work to the Left & rather seek some sort of coalition with the Right?
Might the Greens be large enough after the next election, to cause some real headaches to a Labour Party refusing to work with those to the left of them?
It is of course way too early to answer these Q.s; but in three years time we may need to?
hoping my sister lives And will wear these earloop KN95s if we can manage to get them to her.. the mail situation is so bad we have to send a package to a school employee in florida who will then bring it to her campus 🤪
@scalzi Oh, I did that, too.
@Mattcraig still painful.
@schwa yeah. Thanks.
Sagalassos: This Pisidian city was developed by the Phrygians and Lydians until Alexander conquered it in 333 BCE. It was possibly also the C14th BCE Hittite city of Salawassa. The Romans incorporated it into their Asian province in the 1st CE, and it's mostly their architecture you see today. The town faded away after earthquakes and plague in the 6th century CE. 📷 SteveG1959 More:

i'm really finding i'm missing the sewing groups i was in on facebook and before that, livejournal. anyone have any leads on a queer, preferably plus sized or plus sized-friendly sewing group?
edit to add: the hashtag #queerSew has come out of this, please use it if you're a queer sewist and we can follow along!
For (selected) artists in Ireland there is some good news; the piloted basic income scheme is to be made permanent... but, the successful recipients can only gain the support from every other three year cycle (i.e. support for three years then three years without); no doubt to 'encourage' then to capitalise on the first three years to gain over art-related income streams?
Still which not UBI, this is yet more evidence of how basic income(s) *do* work!
