Hmmm.... and now the Head & two other national board members have been arrested during an ongoing investigation into corruption in the Police Federation (the body representing rank & file police officers).
If you were starting to think the police force(s) in this country is/are rotten through & through, you might be adding this to your evidence for that judgment.
Five years after the murder of Sarah Everard by a serving police officer, it seems that female police officers feel even more unsafe in the company of their male colleagues than they have in the past, as the measures to try and weed out sexual predators from police forces have largely been tick box exercises not sustained interventions in vetting & management of the workforce.
Are we surprised? No

Chicago PD's now-defunct predictive policing software, the Strategic Subjects List, gave risk scores to people most likely to commit gun violence or be a victim in the city.
56% of *all* Black men 20-29 in Chicago had a score compared to 6% of all white men in the same age range. Of the people with the highest scores on the list, 85% of them were Black men.
The list was discontinued due to racial bias and ineffectivity.

Facial recognition is one of the technologies police are claiming help them clear cases, but I wonder at what point we are going to find out how exactly how many people are in jail/prison who were improperly identified. #FacialRecognition #police #prison #surveillance
