A single road death is one too many.

In 2024, 19,940 people lost their lives in road crashes in the EU, a 12% drop compared to 2019.

Progress is real but not enough.

To meet our goal of halving road deaths and serious injuries by 2030 and Vision Zero by 2050, we must accelerate our efforts.

We will focus on safer infrastructure, stronger enforcement, vehicle technologies, new mobility, and road safety research.

Safer roads are not optional. They are essential.

Three countries show increases in red: Estonia plus 33 percent, Ireland plus 22 percent, and Spain plus 2 percent. The European Commission logo appears in the bottom right corner.

European Commission remains committed to halving road deaths by 2030

The Commission published its report to track progress towards the EU's goal of halving road deaths and serious injuries by 2030. While progress has been made in reducing road fatalities, it reveals that the current pace is insufficient.
