Today in InfoSec Job Security News:

I was looking into an obvious ../.. vulnerability introduced into a major web framework today, and it was committed by username Claude on GitHub. Vibe coded, basically.

So I started looking through Claude commits on GitHub, there’s over 2m of them and it’s about 5% of all open source code this month.

https://github.com/search?q=author%3Aclaude&type=commits&s=author-date&o=desc

As I looked through the code I saw the same class of vulns being introduced over, and over, again - several a minute.

In which Claude Opus invades my open-source hobby project. The experience was… surprising.

Fairly raw anecdata here, analysis and reactions still to come: https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/202x/2026/02/06/Q-Plus-C-Ch1

Amanda Askell, a philosopher working at Anthropic, interviewed in The New Yorker about their genAI bot Claude: “If it’s genuinely hard for humans to wrap their heads around the idea that this is neither a robot nor a human but actually an entirely new entity, imagine how hard it is for the models themselves to understand it!”
