“[In] music spaces, the denial is huge,” phytocene said. “Because I think if musicians were to admit that every day they put themselves at risk, they wouldn’t be able to do that career.”
@stefan ⬆️so much this
Part of the reason I haven't tried to jump back into the #opera world is because that there is a very real harm to sharing infectious air, especially with ones throat and lungs more open and full, cycling through more air
The close quarters
And in performance, the poor orchestra
I'm slowly girding myself for an abbreviated #ZinkaMilanov (as in successful later in life) career... abbreviated because of the inevitable early breakdown cuz of COVID, WHILE wondering how much is worth it, and if I should do something different.
But opera is like Olympic (ancient Olympics, not the modern nationalistic circle jerk) exposition (not so much competition):
Human attempts to push and redefine the state of performance, endurance, expression, excellence etc.
Hopefully, there can be a reasonable facsimile of the operatic standard of unamplified sound, acoustic instruments, full orchestra, quiet performance spaces without swamp gas and 'mal-aria'
So far all I can think of is a sort of neo-commedia dell'arte which is why I am trying to restore my mini RV and put a stage on top
