@kabel42 @rl_dane years ago I reviewed a customer application that was architected as frontend -> backend SOAP web service -> terminal emulator -> mainframe app, and was (rightly) horrified, then two weeks later went to a different assessment for a different customer and they had implemented the exact same pattern. totally unrelated companies, totally custom system in both cases. some real cursed simultaneous invention. I felt like someone was pranking me.
