@baldur Two points come to mind:
- Heating. Being underground with a herd of cows would be very warm, possibly too warm. And nearly saturated with water vapour. But, free heating.
- Shit. A herd of cows generates a lot of shit, very valuable for Icelandic soil improvement. Would it collect in a rock basin all winter and be dug out matured in spring? Smell not as bad as you might think, but a definite drawback to the free heating.
