The Clash. London Calling
Punk arrived in the late 70s & upended music for a short period before being subsumed back into rock music. The key LP of the moment when punk & rock re-engaged is London Calling. Retaining the Clash's punk sensibility it also looking back to rock music not to react against it, so much as to build a new vitality for the mainstream. Its a key moment in rock history, but more importantly great music!

It is great music. So great that my teenage daughter and her friends blast it through the house and during every car drive
@ChrisMayLA6 I don't quite buy the 'subsumed back into rock music' ending for punk.
Some years ago I metaphorically described punk as coming along, 'sleeping around' with rock, pop, disco, reggae, blues, etc and having numerous illegitimate children before promptly hanging itself.
This led to e.g. Blondie having a massive hit with Heart of Glass, as well as late 70s genres such as two-tone and ska with strong reggae influences, plus even the likes of jazz funk, new wave and the new romantics.
Yes, maybe - I was looking for a phrase that worked in the character limit & that seemed the best summary to me... but I have not difficulty at all with your version - makes perfect sense
