@GossiTheDog Anecdotally, a lot of my small business clients are dropping their subscriptions - often when they switch credit cards. They're not enthused about the constant changes in names, icons and the look of the software. Lots of people are extremely loath to change/be forced to learn new things. They just want to write some docs, check their email and maybe create a spreadsheet where they stupidly lost all their passwords.
@GossiTheDog Enterprise IT? Easy to get: Take regular IT and remove all the fun. Voila.
@GossiTheDog is it also common for corporates to buy the fully featured enterprise licenses for 365 and then disable the majority of the features in the admin console?
@GossiTheDog Security spending flowchart:
"Do we actually use this security product?" -> No -> Renew anyway
"Does this junior analyst role have a notable impact on the wider team and business?" -> Absolutely yes -> Get rid of 'em
@GossiTheDog reminds me at the ai chatbot at my work
I’ve talked to loads of orgs who renew Darktrace each year, knowing nobody uses it, as the CISO has too much political capital to lose by admitting they purchased a turkey.
Microsoft IT had a load of products they renewed which they didn’t use either. Nexthink was one. 🤷♀️

@rasldasl lmao. They don’t even use it.
@GossiTheDog I've been brought in as a consultant quite a few times to highlight waste and bad decisions about infosec spending. My findings sometimes don't go over well.
@GossiTheDog What kind of person sees "Our platform gives IT teams complete visibility and control over every employee experience." and signs on the dotted line?
Surely neither the IT team nor not the IT team want that grim vision of the future.
@GossiTheDog Darktrace is the Mike Lynch project that didn't blow up in hilariously bitter litigation, somehow, if I'm remembering them right.
@GossiTheDog I forget that Darktrace exists until I see their name on the McLaren F1 car. I still don't know what Darktrace does/is and at this point I don't care to find out.
