This list highlights why the internet is great
A few things that got me interested to learn more
A few, where I just have a (very) different opinion
One, that is just wrong in general 😜
@gmthor this reply highlights why the internet is not great: a complete stranger letting me know that my list of food I like is somehow "wrong" and apparently thinking this is funny and not extremely rude.
@0xabad1dea you are right. I exaggerated and voided my own point.
@0xabad1dea if you can get anything from Germany, Apfelsaft naturtrüb is apple cider, without spices. But just add some cinnamon and warm it up and you've got the real deal! Maybe you can find Dutch unfiltered apple juice?
@0xabad1dea there is a brand of gold fish crackers in Germany called Fischli, I think I have seen those in NL on vacation
https://www.goldfischli.de/produkte/goldfischli/goldfischli-original.html
@0xabad1dea I had a bear-shaped honey bottle in Germany as a kid! It can't have come from the US as it was East Germany. But I don't think I have seen any lately ...
And we have Goldfish crackers.
@GreenSkyOverMe I think I could get them at the American store in Amsterdam, but at quite a markup...
@alexanderdyas I do not miss American-brand "democracy" very much, no. They wouldn't even let me vote last time.
- good bread
- wild rice
- mexican/central/south American food
- family and friends
- pond hockey
-Decent Mexican food
-Mountains, large ones
-Cheap oysters from local farms
-Wickles relish
@0xabad1dea you can get the bear shaped bottles inside the EU, might need to put the site through a translation service: https://bodomeheszet.hu/mezes_pet_maci
@spitefully_optimistic me explaining to my husband that I need 100 bear-shaped bottles for my mental health
@0xabad1dea I grew up traveling. I know the feeling of missing something you really loved at the time. Out of all those that you listed, I would miss apple cider the most. That is one of my fall treats. I splurge and spend money on the good stuff, at least 4 or 5 gallons. It has gotten expensive and doubled in price, but I'm worth it
@0xabad1dea twenty four hour green chile breakfast burritos
@0xabad1dea the big one for us is cafes where you can get a cup of coffee and something savory like a burrito or egg sandwich for take away. Almost all of them only seem to have croissants or banana bread. Or they’re a sit down breakfast place.
We also just miss good burritos in general 😂
@0xabad1dea is squeezy teddy bear honey real honey? every time someone mentions it i see a barrage of comments saying how it's not
@me it’s probably diluted with corn syrup, seeing as it’s sold in America
@0xabad1dea @me I've heard industrial scale beekeepers often place vats of hfcs near hives to create more consistent yields and flavor
Would that count as dilution or tampering in the eu?
@0xabad1dea unless it's something COMPLETELY different, there is quite a lot apple cider in France, iirc
@0xabad1dea
Why miss pumpkin pie? Blake it! And alcohol free Apple cider is available in supermarkten en online.
@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Dang. I was about to say that cider was available this side of the pond (or at least something very similar to some cider I was given in Seattle), and then I realized that the producer I was thinking of is UK based. And, well, Brexit.
But if you're ever in the UK for any reason, Copella pressed apple juice might be worth trying.
@0xabad1dea I'm in the UK now, and started making my own pumpkin pies because I missed them so much!
