As we obsess about the machinations revealed by the Epstein Files, the corruption, the influence peddling & leaks, its worth remembering that this is all a bit of distraction from the real victims of the predators.

But then again, its always about the men isn't it?

So the Epstein scandal is about politics? Silly me for thinking it’s about the mass abuse of women and girls | Marina Hyde

Obsessing over individual players and political chaos leaves less time to focus on the misogyny. And that’s for the best, isn’t it guys, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

@ChrisMayLA6 But also, corruption has hidden victims. Where the corrupt gain advantage the public lose. Both directly and indirectly. It's a loss distributed over many people, but we all lose.

@ChrisMayLA6 Ed Davey’s coment on this at least got Starmer talking about them. But the law in the USA is owned by the rich and only one now dead, of the victims could be said to be rich

@ChrisMayLA6

What is very telling about this current era is the lack of women coming forward to say #MeToo

Yes, the Epstein victims have organised and lawyered up. But only a few are coming forward publicly.

Was Epstein and his cabal successful in crushing the #MeToo movement?

@ChrisMayLA6 Using the Epstein scandal to generalize to all men is racist. I know men who are not rapists.

It is the same behaviour as looking at Ghislaine Maxwell and drawing the conclusion that all women are sex traffickers.

It is bad thinking and contributes to polarization in society.

@ChrisMayLA6 Men corrupted men and did not bother to damage women in the process.

Men facilitating other men to damage women, with the goal of damaging the men who did the damaging of the women.

@ChrisMayLA6 The sheer vileness and inhumanity of the treatment that the victims suffered cannot be left unavenged. The details we’ve seen may only scrape the surface and they already show such evilness. How easily “power” corrupts and makes people think that they can do anything they want using that power. But they choose to only satisfy their despicable base desires. I can’t articulate how furious and traumatised even reading it makes me.
The penalty for all involved MUST be severe.

@ChrisMayLA6 yes it is about them - unfortunately - and it is not only a woman and girl abuse scandal (scandal sounds way too weak for what it is), but also a politic, spy, parallel society cluster fuck.

@ChrisMayLA6 Marina Hyde has a rare mind and uses it with unbridled ferocity. A brutal piece that is right on the money.
