Why are they taking the "No" bet at all? Am I missing something? Or why is it not 99c and you get $1 back? Or do the fees and locking in your money for 2 years with no interest offset it? Or are the people paying for yes subsidising the no people somewhat?

A friend once sent me a fake blackmail letter as a joke, so I sent a reply saying he could have all my Porsches and Mercedes if he would just please, please burn all the negatives. tl;dr: No betters can earn a relatively safe ~3% interest off of the Yes betters. Yes betters are betting that No betters want to get their money out before the end of the year (possibly to bet on more lucrative bets) and are willing to pay a premium for it.
