@davidrevoy Have you considered a comic where an owner of a real parrot does magic and gets accused of using AI?
@elgregor Hey, thank you for the suggestion. It can be a challenge, especially to show the difference first between a Cyber AI Parrot and a real one, side by side and establish that before doing the critic (as a part of the audience already has trouble following what was previously established on other previous episode.) But I'll note it somewhere, in case I find a way to solve this while writing. 🙂
@davidrevoy The AI ones you draw look robotic with the panel seams, star symbols and display in place of eyes. Their speech bubbles also have star symbols and different background color. A real parrot would look real, squawk, and have normal speech bubbles. It could preen (or even swear if it's owned by a pirate mage).
The owner of the parrot could also simply state that it's just a normal parrot.
@davidrevoy hey David, I read about your RAM trouble. Something good to have, due to deadlines is a backup PC, in this case, a mini-pc. In my case, a few years ago I build myself a 'steam machine' with a mini-pc, it's for gaming but in case of need, I could use it as a temporary solution if the main PC goes down. It's an investment t, of course. Best.
@davidrevoy The advantage of being on a social medium instead of in the Forgotten Realms is that you have access to both the Silence and Banish spell from level 1.
The disadvantage is that casting Fireball is considered to be illegal 😞
@davidrevoy So true ! This week especially, I was called "a dinosaur" (by a person older than me) for not wanting to use AI in my work (no need, it's better to learn and understand what you're dealing with), I was somehow scolded by ma colleague who told me also that she is usually trying to avoid people like me who are cautious with AI (What the fuck of the coconut ! 🤪 - she is a "linkedin"-kind of type, she uses it to create applets without understanding them. Her website is a patchwork).
@tbzhg Yeah, I've come across something pretty similar at a conference. What a nightmare!
It's wild how confident and self-assured this type of person is. The one I met was impossible to even start a discussion with, because for him, I was a threat to the illusion of empowerment and productivity he had with AI.
@davidrevoy a threat, that's exactly the word for those fanatical morons.
@davidrevoy, we're definitely losing something with that (mis)use of “super”. This loss looks ungood, possibly even double-plus ungood…
@lp0_on_fire Yes, I hesitated with "really easy", a safer option, but I wanted something a bit more original for her way to speak. I've heard "super easy" multiple times on Youtube videos. Esp. as a catch phrase for Ryan George's Pitch Meetings series on the Screen Rant channel, a Canadian writer and actor/comedian. Maybe it's a Canadian expression?
@davidrevoy, possibly, but it seems like a USA thing to me which is very much finding its way… seemingly everywhere else. Personally, if there's “super easy”, why not also “sub easy” (which badly needs a hyphen) and the like too…

https://www.reddit.com/r/linguistics/comments/u5k4ta/american_english_anyone_notice_people_using_super/
and others (from search results for “origin of super instead of very”).
@lp0_on_fire "super" is also an intensifier adjective in France for many decades. That's why probably it felt natural to me.
@davidrevoy
Oui bonjour c'est pour savoir : cette magie est bien sous licence GNU GPL v3 ?
@davidrevoy I need that for the "leadership" in my work meetings.
@davidrevoy please please please make it so that the maker of the Avian Intelligence runs away with a huge pot of gold after his giant cauldron explodes and an angry mob chases him for swindling everyone.
That would be the perfect ending to this arc.
@davidrevoy Or perhaps it would be more appropriate if the parrots started talking gibberish and the giant AI pot had all its books turned into a giant letter soup that can't be fixed. That would make it a two-part comic 😅
@yuki2501 🙂 Lots of good ideas here, thank you for sharing, I'm taking notes!
@davidrevoy
Nice spell 🤣
@davidrevoy I want that spell
@davidrevoy This is basically a more aggressive version of this meme.
@davidrevoy Great comic. Is there a name for the young witch? Now that I think about it I am not sure if the main witch has a name either.
@VANTABlack2000 Thank you. Yes, I have to find a name for the young small elf blond; her codename in my sketchbook is Free-ren or FreeLibre-ren , a pun about a free libre derivation of the Frieren proprietary character.
For the Gothic Sorceress, her codename is Cepper. For "Cepper&Parrot" an anagram for "Pepper&Carrot".
So, as you can see, nothing serious.
I see you are creating cartoons that will age extremely well again.
@davidrevoy
wouldn’t that mean „I change“ if that’s supposed to be Latin?
„shut up!“ probably is more like „sile!“ ?
But then again my Latin is quite rusty, and I don’t have any knowledge about chaosiahnish at all…
🤓
@vampirdaddy hehe, thanks for telling me this means something else in Latin; yes, my "magic language" here is often way more basic: mute+o → muteo.
I have made way worst in the past; like the famous "Allus...! Yuus...! Needum...! Est... LOVIUS!" from Pepper&Carrot episode 36
@davidrevoy
Thanks for teaching some chaosiahn magic incantation etymology!
🥰
I liked all, allusyuus… and ignisme,too (the latter had me suspect Latin as reference).
Looking forward for more of your work. 👍
@davidrevoy I wonder if you could make one about the recent hardware price hikes.
Something like magic ingredients getting more expensive because they are all bought up by whoever makes these birds. 🤷♂️
@fell Hey! Yes, this one is already written (scenario only, art will be made next monday+tuesday) and will be the one for next week if nothing more important in the news interrupts this theme.
Oooh, can I suggest one where the parrots all talk to each other in a line, and each time they pass it on it gets more and more garbled as they are "learning" from each other and it degenerates into informational goo.
@doctormo @fell That's indeed a good idea Martin! The 'training on training' is a theme I haven't explored yet, and using the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_game as a metaphor can work. I just need a good punch line or end twist.
Someone suggested also a blue type of Parrot cannibal directly eating the speechbubbles of red Parrot and having after issues to speak. I have it on my note, but it was also hard to find a good end twist or punch line to transform the mechanic into something to laugh about.
@davidrevoy Woohoo! 🙌🏻
Simple and clean is the way you are making me feel, tonight. 🎶
