I’m trying to learn how something in this computer works and what I find for my troubles is a link to an xkcd comic whose punchline is “go sit by a lake” and we complain about ai deskilling and what the fuck is this.
We gave init to the Linux sound guy and now he works at Microsoft making the boot sequence optimized for rentware landlords and people tolerate this.

@mhoye IIRC they just left MS to go work in a startup. Buy yeah, "see Fig #1" is not the best way to explain anything.
Isn't the purpose of all FOSS to carve out something that only you understand, for nerd pride?

Maybe I didn’t get your initial complaint.
What I meant: At least they documented their „why“. Yes it could have been straightforward. But at least it is documented at all, even if a bit obfuscated.
And yes, I made the same mistake and tried to be cheeky and speak in code, when communicating intent is hard enough without trying to be clever.

@plaugg the thing is: I have no idea what they, or you, are saying. There is no "why" here. "go touch grass, loser" is not documentation.
