I've been reading this "Iain M. Banks" guy for a while and I have come to the conclusion he's really very good at coming up with ideas and then writing down descriptions of them

@mcc He instantly became my favorite SF author after I stumbled upon “Excession” in City Lights bookstore in San Francisco.
(Which, incidentally, has one of the best-curated SF sections of any bookstore I’ve been in.)

@mcc This seems less than informative about the quality of those ideas, and the engagingness of the descriptions.
(I've only read Consider Phlebus, but I would say that the ideas are also good and the descriptions are sufficiently engaging.)
