@grimalkina firstly, have we all heard a lot??? I must have missed several memos! Also, someone making an ignorant comment about a field of study is just another reason for that field to exist

If that opening isn't followed by an insightful, substantive question that hasn't been addressed in the available literature or in your own talk or writings, that person should be slapped repeatedly with a rotting mackerel.

@grimalkina Wait - did they actually say "blah blah blah"? That is... disappointing, to say the least, coming from someone who should appreciate that, at a minimum, that different subjects & perspectives are valuable. Hard science bias, do you figure?

@grimalkina I feel like far too many academics have PhD in being polite dicks to everyone. My academic friends are, like you, huge nerds about what they study and love, and to me… that’s what academia should be, not gatekeeping.

Imagine what would happen if I sneered at computer science that way. Truly just imagine for a moment. The Decorum Gap that exists between different power structures here is disorienting.
