Me and the two psychologists from jetbrains had a couple of very interesting exchanges about this but all agreed we are often facing the assumption that all devs' mental models are homogenous, that individual survey measures are all EQUALLY accurate/biased vs software metrics (this is not true imho), and other gaps between our fields. Honestly I wish I had time to write a paper about this it's becoming a negative space I'm noticing
@jmeowmeow I didn't REALLY get this from anyone at the event but I had an exchange with Brian Houck where we talked about how individual measurements really sample the environment and shared variance (ok that was me really bc I'm trying to get more people to talk about this). Basically only the psychologists talked about shifts that IMPROVE people's metacognitive calibration (ie making us more reflective and accurate about our own perceptions and info sources). We need more on this....
