@mjd thank you for reading my intention of trying to be careful rather than trying to be cold, which I feel are often confused when one is talking about social effects online

Can't afford my medicine. Can, apparently, afford to ungate every random study done by other people that ever comes across my radar. Why don't you all ever go after the engineers who actually build those paywalls because it's not me.
@grimalkina when I organized an online community I found that some participants were time sinks. I decided I would give them enough information that they could find the rest themselves. I had to keep myself from spending time where it wouldn't pay off. That part was hard.
@shapr yeah for sure. I'm not "organizing a community though" I am a person existing. Sometimes that means we just have conversational encounters like this. I'm not sure there's a way to push forward scicomm without it.

Just to say I think you do good work. I like to read and to listen and even if I don't always agree, I still know you're doing the work, and the analysis and the research, and at best I might have just passed through some of the environments, so my perspective is limited. I gain a lot whenever I can find the time to listen.

@[email protected] What @[email protected] said - I was going to respond with something much more angry and sarcastic, but it's probably more important to reinforce there's people out there who think what you're doing is really valuable, and that I personally have appreciated the couple of occasions you've directly pointed out I'd mis- or partially understood something from your field of expertise.
