I just encountered a website where they have entire paragraphs you're meant to read at a slight tilt, alternating between upwards and downwards slants per block, to make their design a little more "jaunty" by which I mean nauseating and unreadable
We need a council with the ability to revoke CSS privileges
Actually even more radical: make it easy for any user to switch websites to User preference CSS on the fly
Like reader mode but more Mock websites that become useless*

@0xabad1dea Cannot say that I have ever seen a “jaunty” website. I do hope this trend does not catch on. If it does, I’m going back to text-only browsing with Lynx. (Yes, I’m old, in web years.)

@0xabad1dea Used to some effect on r/mildlyinfuriating but that is a bit of a special case...
they realized that simply putting very light gray text on a white background doesn’t make websites unreadable enough (yeah, even many open source documentation websites try this, because all seem to think unreadable is beautiful) and users can even circumvent it with high contrast plugins…
so now they get even more creative

@0xabad1dea I'm pretty sure you're not talking about Exotic Silicon, but your post immediately brought them to mind. I love their content but I hate that they do this in some of their articles, along with a dash of almost-skeuomorphism that just makes otherwise great articles difficult to read and absorb.

@jernej__s yeah, it's a pretty small text size, so putting it at a slight angle is an antialiasing nightmare edge case
