The Competition & Market Authority is (finally) going to investigate Dentists' treatment charges on the grounds that the spiralling costs of private dentistry indicate a significant market failure alongside the problems of hidden charges.

A cynic might wonder if this is a dry run for a claim that the CMA could properly regulate a major expansion in private health care, if Wes Streeting's 'reform' of the NHS entitled such a move?
