I know I'd be preaching to the choir here, and also, apologies about the Substack link, but this might be worth sharing with some of your friends who are still stuck on X/Twitter: They're in a pretty bad company there.
A huge shout-out to @hpod16 for her fantastic work on the #Fediverse, both on her personal profiles and for the @EUCommission ! In less than a month, she’s gained over 1,000 followers, and her posts are being widely shared. As we've said, when most European politicians join the Fediverse, journalists and citizens will follow.
But how do we convince more politicians to join? We need to persuade them and let them know that *we are already here*.

Your data. Your feed. Your control.
The fediverse was built on communities, not corporations, deciding how they interact.
The Digital Services Act now brings that same accountability to the rest of the web.
@EUCommission You have the means, and the correct platform (Mastodon). Now tell MEPs to leave X, where the discourse is controlled by an American oligarch, and address EU citizens exclusively on Mastodon, where they can’t be silenced or censored, and the EU has complete control. #leavex #EUMastodon
@randahl yesterday at FOSDEM there was a member of the European Parliament who was asked why so many politicians are still on X and her answer made total sense (sadly):
Politicians stay on X because journalists are still there, so they feel that if they leave they will become irrelevant / not be written about.
And journalists stay on X because politicians are there.
It’s a vicious cycle
@_elena @randahl Here is the first handmade cartoon depicting the stalemate between politicians and journalists.
