#WordWeavers 2026.02.04 — Look back at the first thing you wrote. What did you do right?
The Fourth Demon, Zeezahsah had a great story line. Though I was heavily influenced by Kimba, the White Lion at the time, the story is entirely original, instead utilizing the cultural weirdnesses of the cartoon animals applied to human culture. Different concepts of death and the handling the dead. What it means to live along side those you might one day eat. That kind of thing! Since it can be nutshelled into an alien x human love story, it displays the forbidden love elements of Romeo and Juliet in multiple senses of the word forbidden. The POV protagonist is the alien. The teenagers try to change their world, fighting generational prejudices unique to their species. I wrote the novella in 1975. I recently read an early 00's edit, which at the time I'd soundly rejected. I found it unexpected good! It's on the list of small books I want to add to my inventory for publication.
