The crisis in the NHS is taking a toll on NHS staff; health service staff have a 24% higher risk of suicide than the general population, meaning that 4 NHS staff are taking their own lives each week (on average).
As NHS workforce planning involves major shifts, and job losses, as well as continued stresses of over-work & lack of budgetary support, we can safely say that when you workforce is choosing suicide something is very wrong!

@ChrisMayLA6 Having worked in the NHS and seeing appalling treatment of staff since COVID, that’s shocking though not surprising.
Locally our area hospital now has only 5 pathology staff in the whole team, with many having left because of a pay cut(!) by senior execs. Why the CE doesn’t get a pay cut too is not explained when bloods are often the first stage of determining serious conditions. It looks like a throttling strategy: Make it harder for patients to access services.
