"Fascism doesn’t just take down the oppressed. It doesn’t just come for the people it’s trying to control. It inevitably destroys the people who have worked the hardest to build it."

‘Andor’ Creator Tony Gilroy Gives the Interview He Couldn’t During Its Release

While promoting his cautionary tale about fascism, Disney asked Gilroy to refrain from using the word. Nine months after it aired its finale, the 'Star Wars' series feels scarily prescient.

@breathOfLife I can't speak for Tony Gilroy, the author of this quote, but I believe he's referring to how fascism is based on an "us versus them" division, and that it always requires "the other" to blame while the population is being exploited by those in power.

Eventually you start running out of "the other"s, so you create new categories of enemies.

@[email protected] "the sad familiarity of fascism" would make a great shirt.
