For once it seems its not so much the police that are obstructing justice in rape prosecutions as the Courts (and defence barristers) not keeping up with new developments in how sexual assaults are investigated (and evidence gathered).
This, of course, will be compounded by David Lammy's attempt to reduce the scope of jury trials (further) & make cases completely reliant on the judgement of judges.
@ChrisMayLA6 The cops certainly do not help. Their responses tend to be appalling. As for the judiciary and the courts and lawyers…… it seems to me that the majority of them are so hideously misogynistic and homophobic/transphobic there are no words. The entire system needs a major overhaul, that it will probably never get. Certainly, Lammy’s proposals will make everything a million times worse than they currently are.
Yes, the system (so-called) around sexually motivated & targeted violence is so clearly out of date its a scandal that it continues without reform (even if, there are some slight positive movements to identify)
